Salmon River Gorge March 1983 Expedition Potholes Area

Following the river upstream from Split Falls, the 1983 expedition next came upon a stretch of the Salmon where the entire river boils through a narrow maze of rock channels. Here, the sound of boulders moving in the river could plainly be heard. The work of such boulders in creating "potholes" in solid basalt also can be seen in the images that follow.
