Yaquina Bay Lighthouse
Light Ladder

      
The last few
      feet to the top of the lighthouse are not open to the public,
      and this ladder is only used to maintain the light. Standing
      here, at the top of the winding stairs, it's easy to imagine
      a nineteenth century lightkeeper climbing the ladder countless
      times to keep the lamps burning with whale oil.
