March 1983 Expedition
Potholes Area
 

      
This view of the potholes area
      shows one of the larger bowls, where water streaming into the
      basin spins boulders at the bottom, gradually deeping the pothole
      over time. This pothole measures 15 feet across, and nearly 15
      feet deep. Doug and Dave from the 1983 expedition stepped over
      narrow several channels in the river to reach the large boulder
      at the center of the river.
