Salmon River Gorge March 1983 Expedition Split Falls, North Cataract

A close-up view of the north cataract at Split Falls. This branch of the falls carries roughly two-thirds of the river volume. Because we were visiting during the peak of Spring runoff, we could hear and feel huge boulders grinding along the river bed, and occasionally bursting over the falls.
