This view of Stein Falls shows
      Doug standing at the edge of the debris that rings the base of
      the falls. From this perspective, it appeared to the expedition
      members that it would be possible to walk behind the falls in
      low water. The amount of debris churning down the river and hurtling
      over the falls made it unsafe to attempt such passage in high
      water, however.
