Alpine Rock Garden

The trail is increasingly rocky as it climbs above the 6,000 foot elevation on the ridge, and the alpine scenery continues to unfold. Rolling alpine meadows bordered by dense forest soon give way to colorful, windswept rock gardens and stunted clusters of subalpine fir and mountain hemlock. From here, the broad Willamette Valley can be seen far below, to the west.
