Autumn Swale

Most people visit Park Ridge and Jefferson Park in summer, when meadow wildflowers are at their peak. But so are the crowds and mosquitos, as anyone who has spent a July night here can tell you. The fall season is not only bug-free, but also has its own colors. Here, brilliant red huckleberry plants light up a swale lined with graceful mountain hemlock.
