Dan Falls Portrait
After making the short traverse around Mark Falls, we set up to shoot Dan Falls, perhaps the most interesting and graceful of Maynard Drawson's waterfalls. As shown below the falls splits into two segments - a wide fan flanked by churning slide. The two segments rejoin as the creek drops over a final set of terraces into a clear splash pool at the base of "tripod rock", the natural viewing platform that appears on the left in this image taken just downstream from the rock.
While Greg set up on "tripod rock", Ted and I forded the stream to explore other viewpoints, and scout the third, and final "canyon crawl" that was just ahead.
