Hang on to
anything loose as you peer over the edge of High Bridge! The
gorge below is sublime, as Eagle Creek enters an almost perfectly
straight, nearly vertical gorge for several hundred yards. The
stream slows here, into a long, deep pool.
Though you
should probably resist, there isn't much harm in dropping a stone
over the side - it's very unlikely that anyone would be below
you and the sound of the resulting splash in the narrow gorge
is irresistable for most hikers. There is a nice spot to stop
for a break at the far end of the bridge.
